Pilonidal cyst disease affects the small midline pits between the buttocks. Patients could have drainage and soiling from these pits. Occasionally, these pits get infected and form an abscess which will require prompt drainage. The location of this condition makes it difficult for a patient to sit comfortably. Dr. Ambe will provide interventions varying from shaving to more extensive surgical procedures to treat this condition on a case-by-case basis. The goals of treatment are to have rapid control of symptoms, decrease in the disease recurrence and facilitate healing.
